So we officially made it to 35 weeks and my body celebrated in the only way it knew how this morning. You guessed it. Another bleed. Only this time It wasn’t the subchorionic hemorrhage causing it. The morning started just before 6 a.m. Was eventful and went by fast.

We started out with an IV. A freaking IV because I needed fluid and it wasn’t an easy task. It took four, yes FOUR attempts and four nurses to get the IV in. I have to give it to the nurses, They tried desperately for an arm stick. When all hope for that failed they really tried for my right hand. Here I sit, with an IV in the back of my left hand. I also learned the real reason IVs are so tough to get into my body. I have lots of valves…which are good to have in that they pump blood through your body. Bad for IVs because you can’t put a needle through them. Oh AND They took my food away. Not a good sign.

Kayvan was out of the room working on a maintenance for work when I woke up and discovered our little issue just before 6 a.m. I texted him and called the nurse who asked a bunch of questions and put me on the monitors. Baby was sleepy and no contractions were showing on the monitors. The resident on call came in and talked with me and liked what he saw on the strip and said 5 more minutes of monitoring. I was feeling really crampy which I made known to everyone who asked (and my poor Hubby repetitively…who didn’t ask.) At the end of the 5 minutes the charge nurse came in and I mentioned to her that I felt crampy. She moved the contraction monitor (toco) and it showed a contraction pretty much immediately. Damnit. The nurse asked earlier if I wanted food or water and I told her the doctors usually don’t let me eat until I’m considered stable again. I wished I wasn’t so forthcoming. My resident came in and looked at the strip and said I was having irregular contractions.

The doctors seemed a bit more worried this time than the last few and soon I had a room full of them. The fellow came in and told me Dr. B. Would be doing my c-section today. “C-section?!” I asked I didn’t like that the fellow just told me what they would be doing to my body without telling me why or presenting me with my options. And I really wanted Dr. A to deliver the baby. We have really bonded with her. Before I could get mad, Dr. A walked through my door to discuss our options and what was going on. From the sounds of it, she staked her claim, and I’m so glad she did. We talked over the risks of what was happening, the fact that I had to deliver today and we decided on a csection.

Kayvan and I are delighted to announce the birth of our son, Kamran Faraji Romaezi. Born 3/15/2011 at 10:05 a.m. weighing 5 lbs 3 oz and 18 inches long. The boy came out pretty pissed and was screaming his head off, thank goodness. He is in the NICU for breathing help and low blood sugar. We hope to have information about his progress soon. All in all he is doing incredibly well for a baby born at 35 weeks. My spinal is starting to wear off and I’m getting a bit achy but I’m doing well so far. Photos later.

  26. Congrats!!!!! I would have told you sooner but was in the hospital myself. (I was only there 24 hours and was pissed at everyone and just had a horrible experience, so I admire you for putting up with it for so long!) Congrats on your little boy.. We’re all really looking forward to seeing pics and I hope he gets out of the NICU quickly!

    • Oh no! Sorry you had a bad experience.

  27. Congrats Jamie! Love the name you picked, my brother is a Kamran too (we are 1/2 persian)! Can’t wait to see pics! Hope you have a smooth recovery. Keep us posted on the healing process, would love to hear all about it, I’ll be having a c-section shortly too!

    • Aw thanks glad you like the name. Most people assume it is just a different spelling of Cameron

Seriously, stay 2 steps ahead of the pain killers. No reason to be holistic. Also, warm liquid to pass gas quickly. I found that heated apple juice worked like a charm. Do not, I repeat, do not pump or breast feed if you are due for meds. Wait at least 30 minutes. And all of this I learned in the past 24 hours. Everyone says this but walk when you are feeling well because you will soon feel awful again. Sleep when you can and don’t be afraid to kick visitors out.

      • Sorry you are having so much pain 😦 my C/S didn’t go like that the 1st time…I am hoping for a repeat of the same this time…glad you are enjoying ur lil one tho 🙂

  28. Jamie and Kayvan,

Congratulations on Kamran!!!!! So happy for you both.

    Best Wishes,

    LanChi

    • Thank you. He is just amazing. But we’re biased. 🙂

    • Thank you Lanchi. We should do pho 50 for dinner one night after we leave the hospital.

  29. Congratulations! Best of luck to all of you and wishing you all a speedy recovery and hope you get to go home real soon as a family.

  30. Congrats! At 35 weeks you will be home in no time. My 2nd DD was 35 weeks (no steroid shots) was only in the NICU for 5 days. Good Luck!

    • Thanks for the encouragement. We are hoping it will be quick. He is on antibiotics since I was ruptured so long. He is on those for 7 days so I know that’s the minimum NICU stay…I’m hoping it’s the max too.

    • Thank you. Wow? 5 days? Amazing we are on day 6 now. I can see another 5 days in the NICU.

  31. Congratulations! What a long journey this has been for you and your family! I hope that one day, your son reads your stories that you have posted on your blog and knows about your experiences. So happy that you get to go home soon too!!

    • Thank you Sam. The first night gone I honestly didn’t want to be here. I couldn’t sleep because of the baby…I also couldn’t sleep because it hurt to lay flat…thank god for thus recliner. Im going to stay here til my incision heals. Though I sucked it up and slept in bed with Hubby for 2 hours last night.

  32. […] documented Kamran’s birthday in a rather quick manner and want to share the details of my c-section before I forget all of the […]
