Day 22: A Little Monkey Hat

So a while back I mentioned that I wanted to make a monkey hat. I started on it as soon as they took the IV out of my left arm but the next day the IV went right back into the left arm limiting my ability to crochet painlessly and I stopped working on the hat. I had the base finished and just had to get the ear flaps and monkey ears on. This morning I did just that! What do you think of my newest creation? Now, this hat isn’t for our little one. It is sized for a 5 or 6 month old so I will probably give it away rather that sit and wait for our guy to grow into the thing. It only takes a few hours to make a preemie monkey hat anyhow.
I should probably save this for a “Crap my Husband Says” post but I won’t. Last night Kayvan was sitting next to me playing on the computer and out of the blue said, “If this place had a fireplace, I could live here.” Can you tell he is the one who isn’t confined to the bed and can leave as he so desires? Fireplace or not, we ARE living here for the next 10 weeks. Last night we saw momma-in-law and little bro. Drew came up to say bye before heading back to school for the semester. I will say that though no one wants to spend the holidays in the hospital, at least it coincided with everyone being out of work and school. Otherwise I wouldn’t see little bro until spring break…which is when we will see him next. Momma-in-law brought us some Peruvian chicken to chow down on, more fruit and a cute little basket to store the mounds of fruit in.
This morning went well. I slept horribly last night of course, but at least one of the residents has learned to pop her head in and leave me alone if I look like I am remotely close to sleeping. The other two, not so much. The non-stress test went fairly normally too. The nurse made me eat a popsicle because baby didn’t feel like moving around much this morning. So we woke him up in order to see a few fluctuation in the heart rate–something we WANT to see. So far it sounds like this weekend will be really busy and I’m looking forward to all of the visitors.

Thank you for the thoughts! Glad you like the hat! I’ve been crocheting since I was 7 thanks to my great grandma who needed to find a way to keep me occupied when she babysat.

I commented on this hat elsewhere, but I have to say it here too… I love, love, love this monkey hat!!! You should save it until it fits your little man.

Thanks Michele! I’m glad you like it. I’ll make him another one when he gets here and we actually know how big his head is going to be. If I make one right now, I would make a teeny tiny one and I’m hoping he grows out of preemie sized stuff in the womb. 🙂
