Day 4: Officially off of the Magnesium

Morning folks! It seems today is a big one. The doctors took me off of the magnesium at about 7:00 a.m. Right now we are watching baby to make sure he keeps it up with the good heart rate. If all goes well for the next couple of hours I might even get some solid food soon. Wonder what they will feed me. Care to place any bets? Stick them in the comments section for me. šŸ™‚

It really is the strangest thing. I haven’t had a single thing to eat since 8 p.m. on the 22nd and am completely not hungry. I guess this IV is doing it’s job. Yesterday I wasn’t hungry but just wanted to TASTE something. That’s where the Popsicles come in. Doc just said I can have one but really, I don’t even want that right now.

Now that I’m off of the magnesium I am feeling better. More awake, less lethargic and most certainly no where near as awful as I felt

the first night.

Yesterday our room was full of Christmas Cheer. Dad, Jeremy, Nikki, Jon, Andrew, Millie and Kayvan’s momma all came out to spend time and exchange gifts with us. I think the gifts we gave were well received. We got my poppa a new iPod Nano and Kayvan’s momma a Color Nook. I can’t wait to see how they like their new technological toys (or how long it takes before dad asks for help getting music on the Nano.) I got Kayvan a motherboard to build a new computer which he seemed quite excited about. Now if you gave that sort of thing to me for Christmas I’m not sure what on earth I would do with it! This man however, plans to build a new computer–brains, he’s got em. I also managed to find a few silly gifts for Kayvan. A mini megaphone for him to take to work and harass co-workers with (and not me) and some footed pajamas. The Pjs are HIDEOUS but I cannot wait to see him try them on.

I can’t wait to put the gift Kayvan got me to good use. A new FLASH for my camera! Last year he got me a DSLR camera for my birthday and I’ve been working hard on my photography skills since. The next step on the road to improving my photog skills is learning to work with flash so I’ve been eager to start collecting gear. This new flash is technically the first piece of my camera gear collection aside from the camera itself, of course so I’m stoked. Dad got me a bunch of stuff too but some of it I can even put to use now, like the footie socks currently keeping my toes toasty! Jeremy gave me a gift with a disclaimer. “I ordered this for you the DAY before you shared the news that you are pregnant.” What was it you ask? An automatic martini shaker. It will be a while before I’m able to consume alcohol but that doesn’t mean you can’t come up to my hospital room to enjoy a cocktail! šŸ™‚

The chatter among the nurses today seems to be the snow. How much are we going to get? I’m normally the gal who doesn’t want it to snow since it gets in the way of my busy life and keeps me stuck in the house. Today the snow isn’t what is keeping me inside and quite frankly it’s nice to look out of my window and see the pretty flurries. BRING IT ON Mother Nature. Hubby is stuck here too so you may as well snow us in!
